My pool was built about 4 years ago and the PB installed the Jandy Nature 2 Fusion system that uses chlorine tabs.
Thanks to all the experts and advice on this forum, I use neither the tabs nor the mineral pack, just the BBB method.

I am now thinking of converting to salt to make the chlorine task easier. My system uses the Jandy Zodiac remote control which controls pumps, heat, blower, etc, so from what I have read, if I want to continue using the remote system, I need to stick with Jandy.

From my research at tfp and on the salt system comparison site, I had concluded that my options were the AquaPure1400 SWG or the TruClear which I could not much information about.

When I asked my PB for a quote for converting to salt, they quoted me for the Nature 2 Fusion Soft SWG system. I now see that there is a Fusion and Fusion Soft, one which uses chlorine tabs and the second which uses a swg cell. Both look like they use the same vessel/tank with 2 cartridge slots. One slot is for the mineral cartridge and the other is for the chlorine tab cylinder or the swg cell.

I asked them about the AquaPure and TruClear and they said that AquaPure was an older system, and TruClear did not have high enough capacity and would not work with my automation.

They are quoting me a price for the Fusion Soft 1400 system which includes the vessel and the salt cell, and then another price for the power panel.

My first question is whether I really need to change the vessel at all. Does anyone here know if the 2 vessels are the same, and I can just get the salt cell

I have the FusionSoft and I am not sure it is the same vessel. It has a hole right under the input water for the flow and temp connections that the cell require. On top is the mineral cartridge and then the salt cell. Even if the vessel was identical, you'd have to basically get an actual fusionsoft anyway for all of the components that the salt cell requires. The biggest advantage I see if they are the same is an easy swap. I have no issues at all with the fusionsoft but I have never used the mineral cartridge ever. As a salt cell it more than handles my pool. It fully integrates into the iAqualink as well.

Looking at the pics side by side they do look identical! Are you Rockville, MD?

Thanks for the response. You're right, I forgot about the sensors on that lower port. So I guess it makes sense to just get the whole system together. Although prices I see online are still much less than what the PB is quoting me for the parts.

I'm still on the fence with converting to salt, because with the auto-cover, the chlorine cost is fairly manageable, since it stays covered most of the time.

Did they tell you how long that FusionSoft salt cell is supposed to last? Is it the typical 4-5 years of other brands?

Yes I'm in Rockville, MD.

I think it lasts 4-5 years or so. Not sure.

Do you have Jandy automation? If not, there are better systems out there that produce more chlorine for less money. As far as chlorine production goes, this is on the lower end of similar sized units with 1.25/lbs chlorine/day. Honestly, the only reason to get this is if you already have Jandy automation and want to integrate this into your panel AND you can get it cheaper than the Aquapure system, which has identical specifications/output. This was spec'd out for me by my builder back when I didn't know anything about pools. I tried to change it actually for the Aquapure but decided to keep it when I found out you can run it without the mineral cartridge. And again, you should not use the mineral cartridge!

Both the FusionSoft and the Aquapure require a separate power panel. I think it was like $1200 for both (not including installation).

I use the Aqualink remote control/PDA to control everything (described in my first post). I assume this is what is referred to as Jandy 'automation'.

The PB is quoting me $1676 for the tank and the power panel, not including salt bags and labor.

If you don't mind, can you let me know what your power panel is called? From my research, I believe this is what I would need:

FUSIONM Power Pack for Jandy Fusion Soft
Google Express

Fusion Soft 1400 Kit
https://www.poolzoom.com/chlor-plus...bHecQiUcTiIXIWcpIBxW08uL9R6NFprBoCuK8QAvD_BwE

These total to about $1050. I haven't researched the salt yet either, but I assume they are marking that up on me as well.

Thanks!

Ah ok sorry missed that.

No I don't think that is what you need. The "power pack" for the Nature2 installs within your panel when you get them combined. Some panels include them. You don't already have it right? If so, it would be a salt control panel. You can see the pic below it is the upper left display in my panel. Mine is part of the panel components. $1700 is not a bad price for that complete with installation but not just for the unit he is marking it up over retail for sure. Ask what he wants for installation alone if you buy the unit. Also call WaterCrafters. They are near you and are reasonable on most prices and do this kind of work. Whomever does it, make sure they are competent to install it properly within your Jandy PDA panel like it is supposed to be. Not as a separate unit outside the main panel.

Salt is cheap. Like $5 for 40 lbs. Just buy it from Home Depot I use water softener salt that is labeled as "no additives" and 99+% pure salt. Don't let your installer tell you this salt is any different than "pool" salt.

I am in the same boat. I have the Nature 2 system and don't use it. I'm wanting to convert and just had a local pool company tell me I need to use the Nature 2 SWG system...anyone using this?

I do. Should be a straight swap for the unit but it still needs to have the control part installed in the panel.
