My pool was put into service in July of 2014 with the attached Jandy RS automation. Never been a huge fan (PDA is clunky, lights cycle instead of going straight to color etc) but it works (worked). Lately every few weeks the main unit stops working and I have to cycle power to it. Pumps/etc are all off. Cycle power and it works. Also the pool light if I change colors once it turns on, it never stops cycling through colors.

Nothing looks visually wrong on the PCB, I am assuming some sort of internal component failure.

Any input/thoughts on that?

Second related question is if I were to replace it, what is the best consumer friendly solution? I see Jandy basically only wants to sell to pool professionals. Since I am using a variable speed Jandy pump I assume I am best sticking with Jandy? How do I confirm what replacement board I need, as there seems to be a lot of versions and because its not DIY friendly, there doesn't seem to be much documentation.

Thanks,
Jordon

Try reseating the RS485 connections. Also take one of the ones on the right connector that is double-stacked and put that one on the left instead.

Oh also - mine was exhibiting similar issues and I found out my antenna wire was damaged. I spliced out the bad section and seems to have mostly fixed the issue.
