My pool is 4 1/2 years old, 14000 gallons in ground vinyl liner saltwater system. My original equipment VS Jandy epump 2.7 hp just quit. The motor was making a lot of noise then tripped the breaker. I am assuming the bearings went out. Called a pool place to come out and look at it, they unbolted the motor from the strainer and took it with them to the shop. The shop guy emailed me and said the motor was shot and they want to replace it with a whole hayward pump and strainer system for $2600 or they would put in a 1hp single speed pump for $1400. I looked online and it looks like I can buy the whole setup I already have for way less than the hayward one. Is there anywhere that just sells the motor? I am pretty mechanically inclined so I don't have a problem replacing just the motor.

Which Jandy pump do you have? How is it controlled? If you don't have automation, a Nidec Neptune NPTQ270 motor will work with the Jandy wet-end.
