jandy LXI ignition control

i've got a jandy lxi 400k btu heater that will turn on, sounds like it fires up (roaring sound) but there is no warm air coming from anywhere on the unit, after about 4 or 5 minutes i receive an error that reads "*fault* check ign control" i contacted zodiac and was told to just replace the ignition control, which is a pricey item. has anyone else had this problem and found any other solutions? we honestly didn't go through much trouble shooting while on the phone and i don't want to pay $350 for this ignition control, replace it, and it doesn't resolve the issue. any help is greatly appreciated!

A fault such as yours could also been the flame sensor. It is not sending a signal bad toe the control module to tell it that the unit lit and to keep the gas valve open. Stand by the unit when you turn it on, make sure you hear ti light, see how long it stays lit before going out.

Indeed, on my Jandy heater, somehow the flame sensor wire broke clean off right where it attaches to the sensor rod. I ended up putting an alligator clip on the wire and clipping it to the rod. Has been running well ever since. I've bought the replacement sensor but haven't put it on since my rig job is much more satisfying. Lol.
