I am installing 2 Jandy watercolors led nicheless lights, JLU4C12W100, in hayward inlets SP1408. I thought the light gasket would seal against a lip in the inlet, but it does not even reach the lip. My distributer is saying it is fine for water to leak into the conduit and I just need to have the transformer above the water line. Has anyone had experience installing these? Should I seal the lights with silicone to stop them from leaking into the conduit?

Welcome to TFP.

The outside housing of the light can be submerged.

The conduit can be flooded with water.

Where do you see the light requires sealing?

It is fine as your distributor said.

Thanks for the response. There is only one note in the install instructions that says "Gasket helps ensure that the conduit is not a potential leak path." Tried to call Jandy, but they are closed until Monday and I need to get this project done this weekend.

Does your conduit leak?

The conduit should be water tight but some leak.

The gasket not sealing is only a problem if your conduit has issues.

Jandy will be of no help to you.
