Jandy Aquapure 1400 - 120/121 Error Code

Hello and thank you for such a great forum!

I have a five year old pool in the Atlanta area. It’s large - estimated 40K gallons. My Jandy Aquapure 1400 has started throwing 120/121 codes intermittently. About three weeks ago I had a 120 code. After removing and inspecting the device (it was clean - no buildup) I got a 121. Now, a week later, the service light is off. The device is running at 100% and the salinity was at 2.8 Today. The pool guy added a bag of salt to get it to 3.0. He said he typically adds one weekly during the cooler months and every other week during the summer. Evenings have bee quite cool for the past couple of weeks (50s). From what I have read, it sounds like I am close to the useful life of 1400.

Question 1: If I keep getting error codes, is it safe to assume that replacing the device, sensor and cord will solve the issue? I don’t mind spending the $$ but would hate to find that I have a different issue.

Question 2: Given the size of the pool and the fact that the 1400 runs at 100% all the time, should I consider adding a mineral sanitization system? I have bee told that it will take some load off of the Aquapure. If this makes sense, what is the best approach/system?

Thanks in advance,

Dave

You need to get the K-1766 Taylor Salt Test to know the actual salt level in your pool versus the calculated salt level the system is estimating. You should not be adding salt without testing.

Minerals do not maintain sanitation. Minerals cause metals to accumulate in your water and can eventually cause staining. It is snake oil and not recommended.
