Jandy 1.5 HP Stealth SHPM Diffuser

I have a Jandy 1.5 HP Stealth SHPM
that was installed with my pool in 2013. The diffuser was separated from the steel plate housing and is lodged against the filter. The replacement diffuser kit looks like the diffuser has two screws that screw to steal plate housing. My diffuser wasn’t screwed to the steel housing plate because the screw holes don’t line up. QUESTION do I try to put 2 screws into the housing plate , get a new kit or try screwing it in and if it fails get a new kit. I don’t know how it didn’t do this earlier or how was it attached?

Hopefully, you are talking about the SEALPLATE. There should be a small pin on the diffuser that locates it in the right orientation for the small screws to thread into some small molded-in nuts. If they aren't there, the sealplate needs to be replaced. Possibly it was bad from the factory, it happens on a rare occasion.
