So I bought and installed this sand filter along with a new pump on 5/30/2019. The installer added the sand and he did a backwash and then put the valves back to filter. all of a sudden brown dusty water started coming out of the return jets....i tried backwashing today and it happened again....here is the pic of my multiport valves...arent I supposed to rinse after a backwash..? i dont know what these settings are. please help. thank you!!

Welcome to TFP! That is in interesting configuration. Instead of a standard multiport valve, it looks like two separate 3-way valves were installed to try manipulate water flow to provide most of the same functions, but I don't see a rinse option. @Bama Rambler have you seen this before?

I have. They normally use two 3-way valve or five 2-way valve setups in commercial installations.

They are regular 3-way valves and they are set depending on what you want to happen.
The labels look right, but it would help for me to see the plumbing including the pump and filter.

Unfortunately there is no way to set valves to rinse the sand after a backwash. You could have a Rinse function by adding a tee and another valve on the bottom piping between the filter and 3-way valve.
