Issue brushing algae

I had a vinyl pool when I lived in MA. I have concrete pool now that I'm in Florida. When I have/had issues with algae and I brush the pool, any algae even within a few inches of the brush gets stirred up.

I recently started taking care of a friend's (concrete) pool. When I brush their pool, not only does stuff not get stirred up when I brush it, I sometimes have to go over spots multiple times. The only thing I'm aware of that it different is that their pool was recently resurfaced.

Does anyone know why this would be occurring?

The differences you are experiencing are probably related to the exact type of material you are seeing, whether it's actually algae, which type, or perhaps some other product in the water. If it is algae, the first stpe is to use a proper test kit to perform the SLAM Process. If you aren't sure about that process let us know. You can also post a full set of water test results here if you like. We'd be happy to look them over for you.
