Tough to get a great picture but I'm on day 4 of SLAM and I'm still getting little bits of this here and there. It brushes away easily and dissolves rapidly.

FC is it 20.5
CC 0.5
CYA 50

I've been doing the OCLT and lost 1.0 over night last night.

Keep going with the SLAM?

Looks like algae. Keep going with the slam until you meet all three criteria. With this stuff in the pool, you fail Clear Pool.

You will get it and are well on the way!

Thanks. Should I vacuum that to waste? Brush and let the filter handle it? I used the article on here to add a little DE to my sand filter.

Nah...low is fine.
Alright I'm about to drain and fill in this thing. Had the FC up to 20-25 all week, a little higher than recommended for my CYA of 40. CC was 0.5. I kept getting that little patch of dead algae over three days so I figured maybe the filter just wasn't catching it. I vacuumed it all to waste, backwashed, rinsed the filter and now I have a small spot of brown algae I think in the middle of the pool.

I don't know what my numbers are at the moment since I'm just frustrated. Could there be something growing IN the filter that the water isn't hitting to kill?

I’m no expert but I don’t know how there could be a spot inside the filter thats not getting new water. Is there anywhere else it could be lurking? Borders of skimmer, light niches, wrinkles in vinyl that you can inspect brush?

I have a couple small tight wrinkles in the bottom of the liner and have been very careful to be sure to thoroughly brush them.

I'm just irritated, was a bad day. I'll do some testing and see what's what tomorrow.

OCLT passed. Lost maybe 0.5 FC over night and CC is at 0.5.

This CAN'T be algae right?? Pollen / dirt?
Great news on the OCLT!

The pictures are fuzzy for me, so not sure what it is. I do know in Ohio right now it doesn't matter how much I filter, sweep, skim, robot, aerate, etc. there is so much pollen in the air there is always something floating.

Same here in Texas. Wash my car and the next day there's a layer of pollen all over it. 🙄

But if this was algae my FC would have dropped more right?
