Is this black algae??

Hello, this is our first summer with a pool. We have a vinyl liner inground pool. Once we opened the pool, we see these black areas, that look like black sand. We tried brushing them, and vacuuming the pool with a robot, once you brush them, they kind of spread out and mix in with the water like sand. Please let me know if this is black algae.

Black algae needs the cracks of a plaster pool to take hold. You don't find it on vinyl liners.

 
Definitely not black algae. Run an OCLT test to confirm it's algae and SLAM if needed. Could also just be some dirt and may be able to be vacuumed up. SLAM or vacuum, either way this should be easy to clear up if you nip it in the bud.
