Is there a benefit to fully draining pool?

I live in Vancouver BC where we receive a lot of rain, but very little snow in the winter now. Should I drain the pool completely and just cover? Leave some water in? Take the pool down?

I have a 12x22 Coleman AGP that came with a cover. I also have a large maple and fir tree that hang slightly over about 1/4 of the pool, so I will have many maple leaves in fall. We are not metered for water here so filling next season will not come at a cost for me.

Generally it's best to never completely drain a pool. Most who close for the winter lower a certain amount of water (maybe 6-12 inches) in preparation for removing equipment and blowing out any plumbing lines as applicable. Have you seen our Pool School - Closing (Winterizing) Your Above Ground Pool page? Let us know if that helps.
