Is salt still required during winter months

As SWG’s stop producing chlorine at lower temps do I still need to maintain salt levels in my pool during the winter months or can I just wait until spring when the temps rise. I live in SC

Salinity levels do not need to be maintained while the SWCG is dormant due to low water temperatures.
