Is my water level too low?

Had to "repair" rusting skimmer by removing a section of the liner - hence draining the water a bit more than usual. After the repair, I closed the pool and wondeirng whether my water level is too low. Due to rain / snow in NJ, I typically went below the return jet in the past but a few more inches this year. Just wondering whether this is "safe" as I recognize the danger / risk of the water level being too low based on my research : 1) liners may pop out, 2) deep end "pulling" the liner.

Not losing any sleep over it but just wanted to double check with the pros here :)

What kinda cover you using ? If it's permeable cover (or no cover) you are perfect as we will see around 3 ft of off season precipitation in the northeast. I always started mine about where yours is, then drained it again to that level right before the big freeze. So I basically drained 18 inches twice. It's up to you how many times you'd like to mess with it. 3 times at a foot each, 6 times draining 3 inches.... etc.

Yes, permeable...Loop Loc. And just like you, I don't like to drain so I try to keep it as low as I can. I usually go about an inch below the return jet but drained a bit more this season because of the rusting skimmer repair - was struggling to get it back into the track so tried to lower the water level as much as I can (in addition to using a heat gun etc.) :)
