Is my water level too low?

Had to "repair" rusting skimmer by removing a section of the liner - hence draining the water a bit more than usual. After the repair, I closed the pool and wondeirng whether my water level is too low. Due to rain / snow in NJ, I typically went below the return jet in the past but a few more inches this year. Just wondering whether this is "safe" as I recognize the danger / risk of the water level being too low based on my research : 1) liners may pop out, 2) deep end "pulling" the liner.

Not losing any sleep over it but just wanted to double check with the pros here

What kinda cover you using ? If it's permeable cover (or no cover) you are perfect as we will see around 3 ft of off season precipitation in the northeast. I always started mine about where yours is, then drained it again to that level right before the big freeze. So I basically drained 18 inches twice. It's up to you how many times you'd like to mess with it. 3 times at a foot each, 6 times draining 3 inches.... etc.

Yes, permeable...Loop Loc. And just like you, I don't like to drain so I try to keep it as low as I can. I usually go about an inch below the return jet but drained a bit more this season because of the rusting skimmer repair - was struggling to get it back into the track so tried to lower the water level as much as I can (in addition to using a heat gun etc.)
