Is lower CYA okay for autocovered pool?

My FG SWG pool has an auto cover and my current CYA level is about 50 ppm. Should I still shoot for 70 CYA with a cover and mostly shade after 4:00 pm? Pool is mostly covered except for when we are swimming.

I e been gradually raising CYA over the last few weeks, but I now I’m thinking of taking a pause and see how things progress.

That level of CYA should be fine. Just realize if you have the cover open during the day you might want to increase the SWCG generation during that time.

My pool is always covered except for the 30-40 minutes per day that it is actually in use. I keep the CYA between 30 and 40 ppm and it seems to work just fine. I did briefly have the CYA level quite a bit higher for a while at 60 ppm but did not notice any significance difference in the percentage I needed to run the SWG at to maintain the proper FC level.
