Is Hayward converter board for OmniPL to be able to control Pentair VS pump worth it/necessary?

Does anyone have experience with using the HLPMPCONV converter board to give Hayward Omni full control over a Pentair VS pump? Yay or nay?

I have an OmniPL controller and a Pentair VS pump. I've programmed the pump directly to run at a higher speed when priming, which it seems to need because the equipment area for the pool is uphill from the pool itself -- apparently not best practice but that is how previous owners did it. Then, after a minute or two, the pump settles down to a lower speed. From the Hayward system's point of view, of course, the pump is just on or not.

Is there any additional advantage to having the Hayward be able to control the variable speed function, or is my workaround basically doing the same thing?

Depends if you want to save a few cents in electrical cost by varying the pump speeds more.

You don't need as much speed/flow when your pump and SWG are running as when your Aquacomfort HP is running.

You have a fairly simple pool without a spa or water features or other complications that can use different pump speeds.
