Salt is not a conditioner in the sense that CYA is. You need CYA to buffer the chlorine so the sun's UV rays and heat doesn't deplete your chlorine too fast. All pools eventually become salt pools as liquid chlorine and tabs all leave a residue of salt behind. We recommend putting in a saltwater chlorine generator to save you years of lugging chlorine jugs around which also saves tons of money in the long term. Perhaps that's what he's referring to. We are all for SWG.
My SWG makes 1000 jugs worth of 10% liquid chlorine. If i purchased them at WalMart, they'd cost $6166. The large SWG system installed is about half that. Replacement cells are considerably cheaper not needing the $500 controller and electric/ plumbing parts and labor. They return between 3:1 and 4:1.
If the builder says liquid chlorine is cheaper, he should stick to building as he doesnt know about maintaining.
I cannot put a price on *not lugging* 1000 jugs. But its high.
He would be incorrect, unless he means you just add salt in addition to the chlorine so make it subjectively feel better? I’ve heard people say they like the feel of salt but I can’t tell any difference.
