Is Check Valve needed before Stenner?

Fired up for the first time after the Polar Vortex last week and I have a cracked check value between heater and Stenner injection port that needs replaced or removed. It was in place because the current injection point used to be a puck feeder. Can I just eliminate the check value? TIA

The Stenner should have it's own backflow prevention valve and should be downstream of the heater. I initially installed my Stenner where the puck feeder return was, but water seeped into the Stenner tank without the valve.

Col,

You only need a check valve between a tab feeder and a heater.. With a Stenner, or a SWCG, no check valve is needed..

There should be a check valve on the Stenner line, which is part of the Stenner install, and nothing to do with the check valve before the heater.

I think it’s a good idea to replace that check valve. It will keep any unwanted chemicals from backing into the heater. $50 part could save you fr replacing your heater prematurely. Seems like a good investment.
