We are having a pool built. The gunite and pool tile is in.

We have a sports pool, and added a baja shelf in shallow end for the kids.

The depth and slop was not adjusted when we did this. Soooo

As soon as you come off the steps in a shallow end, you are in a deep slope. Basically, we have no shallow end on that side.

To adjust at this point, Our pool builder said it would cost us five thousand dollars. They will have to add rebarb and concrete.

A friend of mine that does pools... Said it can be adjusted with 3 inces of plaster for less than $1000.

When I went back to our pool builder with this information, they said it could not be done.

Advice?

One suggestion is only adding 3” to make up the difference, the other solution is adding up to 6” with rebar for additional strength.

The second solution if done properly (there are specific steps) will have the most longevity due to this addition when finished is one with the shell.
