We're finally making the jump to a sand filter, and we're looking at two different Intex models, a 2100GPH and a 2800GPH. They are the same price, so that doesn't help with the decision. My gut feeling is to go with the 2800, but it says its for a pool with minimum of 5500 gallons - ours is just under 4000. What disadvantages would come with a larger pump, and are there any advantages?
Is 2800GPH Overkill?

With the Intex setups, I would go with the largest pump possible because they are quite weak pumps and don't deliver much in flow rate. Also, the larger pumps work better for vacuuming.
