Iron in Pool Water

So a month ago I noticed a faint light yellowish color on my vinyl steps. Grabbed some Vitamin C Tablets and that removed the stains. I also put a CuLator Metal Eliminator & Stain Preventer pack into one of my skimmers.

If the pack looks yellowish its iron, so I am assuming it's iron. I tested the water and didn't have any metals present. I'm about to close the pool this weekend and noticed a faint yellowish color (month later) on the steps again, but pool water is crystal clear. So the CuLator didn't remove everything.

I have no idea where the iron is coming from outside of tap water, which I used to fill the pool (new last year) and fill water this year. I didn't really notice the steps last year.

With closing the pool is there anything specific I can or should do? Would there be something I can put into my skimmers to help remove given it's not a major problem NXT few days or next year? I'll be getting a hose filter for when I fill the pool going forward.

Overnight Chlorine Loss Test to confirm it's not algae. You don't share poolmath logs so hard to tell what "crystal clear" water means to you.
If it is indeed iron and it's precipitating onto surfaces, there are ways to remove it that are fairly manual.

Post a full set of current test results from one of the recommeded test kits.
Test Kits Compared

Also test and post results from your fill water for CH, TA and pH.
Maybe take a sample to the PS to have them test for metals.

When I did the Taylor CH test it did turn blue then after 10mins turned purple. I read if it's purple there are metals present, but it only turned purple after sitting for a bit.
