We have an intex sand filter with the SWG. I am also using the intex skimmer on one intake and have the reducer on the second intake. I can’t keep the pre-filter full of water and when the pump turns off, the water and air run back through the intake lines and bubble out of the intakes. Where should I look to adjust or tighten to get this back into balance?

Look in that skimmer and see if there's a vortex -- a whirlpool. Because somewhere you're sucking in air, and it builds a bubble inside the filter and when the pump is off, it expands and pushes the water back out. That's the easiest place to look.
