I know how you feel ffmedic about intex's version of a pool vac I bough a rechargeable catfish ultra vacuum and it works sooooo good....no more lifting hoses around and losing prime, this vac Is awesome...simply turn it on and vacuum the pool ,pop off the head rinse the filter bag reassemble plug it back up for the next time....I gave 99 dollars for mine and it has saved me so much frustration from trying to vac the old intex way......Mike

I have been looking at that on eba. So you really like yours then?

I love mine I can vac my 18 foot pool in 20 minutes and it works great if you have a rural king store close by? That is where I got mine. Mine has the head shaped like a triangle and it does fit my intex extension pole..Mike

fast1971chevelle,

The Catfish vacuum people should pay you a commission. I ordered one today too. Should be here by Thursday. Cannot wait! Also from eBay, pd $76.

ffmedicwife1997, I'm proud of you, you found it for less than I did! :goodjob:
I hunted EVERYWHERE to get the price I got!

Here's to hoping it's wonderful!

Tell me about it!!!! im happy that we can see the bottom of th pool thourhg cloudiness..what do you think of the test numbers for t

Morning test results 7/16 and the rest of the day will be tested by strips unless my reagent i ordered comes in for the chlorine

FC 14.5 telling us to add 18 ounces of liquid chorine and we have also moved the outflow to aerate the pool
CC 0

FC was the same as last night
CC last night was point.5

we can see the squares on thhe bottom...not crystal clear though..how do these numbrs look and when should we start adding other tests?

Did you add any chlorine last night after you got the 14.5 ppm reading before you got the same 14.5 ppm reading this morning?

If not then you pass the OCLT and your CC is <0.5...two of the three "end of shocking" criteria met. Then you just need to get that water clear.

As Linen said, you have met two of three criteria. Keep your FC at shock until the pool is clear. With a sand filter, it may take a few days. Many add some DE or cellulose via the skimmer to improve performance but it may require more attention (backwashes... etc) but it may clear faster.

yes with a target of 18 it had me add 18 ozs of liquid chlorine and now this morning with the same reading it had us put in 18 ozs

You did not pass the OCLT yet, since your estimated loss would be 18- 14.5= 3.5 ppm.

Keep shocking.

When you do the OCLT for real, you need to add your evening chlorine then wait an hour with the pump pumping (the sun should be off the pool during this) then do the evening FC test. Do not add anymore chlorine then until morning (before the sun hits the pool) and do another FC test.

Since you are still loosing a lot of FC overnight and you water is still cloudy I don't think you need to start doing the "real" OCLT yet.

So, last night you had a reading of 14.5, you added bleach in an attempt to reach 18 ppm (you did not test again last night) but this morning your FC=14.5 and you added CL to attempt ot get back to 18ppm?

If I read that correctly, you lost 3.5 FC last night so you still have living organics in the pool and the CL is working on killing them off. You need to continue with the pool at a shock level of FC. The longer you stay at shock levels of CL, that faster the algae will be dead.

I would not run any other tests, unless you get below 10FC then you could check and adjust your pH before going back to FC shock levels.

ok thank you everyone...i will tell the kids still no swimming if you dont hear from me for awhile come looking for me my children ran me off lol
So keep on shocking with bleach and dont worry about testing anything else yet...Pray my stuff comes today so i can can continue to keep tsting chlorine...i doubt i can get to the pool store today. its about 20 minutees away and i cant drive. im gonna look now and see if the bank shows where i ordered it from and if i got an email to track it.

I wouldn't aerate to much from look back it looks like your last ph result when fc was below 10 was 7.5 which is very good
When using liquid chlorine and or swg your ph will tend to drift up normally.
With not being able to test when fc above 10 we recommend not doing thing that effect ph to much

Once your are done shocking and fc drops below ten test ph and post we can give direction then if needed

It's fine to use the return to aerate. In fact, it's about the only thing you can aerate with anyway. However, I'm unclear as to why you're aerating right now. With the chlorine being high, any pH test you perform now could be inaccurate and chlorine performs it's job better at a lower pH (7.2'ish).

I don't think however, that the aeration is what's clearing the pool. But rather the clearing is a result of the shock level being maintained. Keep that maintained, I have a feeling you'll see some big improvements today and tomorrow.

ok hubby is going out to quit aerating the pool now...i checked amazon for my chlorine reagent says shipped but no tracking info..same company i got my taylor kit from..i wont be ordering from them anymore. Because it didnt take this long to get my kit as it has to get refill.

Hear back from company they are puttting it out tofay priority shipping so there goes the pool water progress

If you have been adding the same amount on previous you could probably keep adding that amount
I would maybe wait a little longer between doses or and a little Less then the last dose to keep from over dosing that should keep you for a day or so as to not go backwards.
