Intex pool and sand filter pump.

Hello everyone. I would like to say I think it’s a great idea to have one just for index owners. As my littles were growing up, we always had the easy set pools and always had good luck with them. Well, when they got big enough they needed deeper than that I had to regroup my thoughts and go out on a limb to dig up a yard that is not mine (Renata). I stumbled across a really great deal on a new Coleman 22x52 Steele frame soft side pool, so I got it. I’ve always been an INTEX gal, so I should have known. Used only two year and almost every leg rusted out and also more than half of the t-type connectors for top railing. This year I desided to go back to INTEX and have an INTEX 22x52 ultra strong frame pool with sand filter to be delivered in next week or so.These kids have been water babies since 5 months old, so we cannot live happy without a pool. I have several questions to ask on here after I start getting it set up. I am 68 grandmother raising teenage twins, one of which is on the autism spectrum, on my own, so I really have to cut corners financially. I do more hands on work than most women but I am over 60 and blonde!!!!! Therefore, I do need help figuring things out (largely due to the fact that not is my body not reacting as easily as it used to, but neither is my mind! Because the hookups are different sizes than my previous pool, I’m not sure what I can do with what comes with it and what I have leftover. I am very glad to have this place to come to. First off, I have a INTEX SWG,the newer kind and it comes with the sand filter pump.the pool holds a little over 10,000 gal water and it says the sand filter flow rate is 2,100gph. So, according to a thread on TFP I read last night, it should be sufficient to start with. Am I correct? I think I want to upgrade to wall mount skimmer, guys on here say it’s not that hard, right?i can’t hard plumb anything because I don’t own and can’t tear up anymore than I have already. Are there any issues I should know about with this plan? I have to get a little re-leveling done because the winter and springs rains and the wind has depleted my leveled pad some on one end as there is slight slope.i have a hard surface with sand on top for pool, but because I had the weight of pool being there for two years, it will be good except for the places they will level up. I used pavers under legs for last one, so I still have them, and no grass. I always put down 10ml bisquine down on top of sand, then heavy tarp, and then big sheet of outdoor carpeting and let it extend beyond pool a little to walk around pool on and set the pumps and ladder on. This may sound crazy, but one year after digging out all of Bermuda grass, two different places had runners of it find its way under pool and YES! Grass can get throug those cheap tarps. Thank goodness for underwater patch and sealant. Works great. So, do you think I can pull this off for another couple or three years until kids loose interest and go astray? lol thanks for this great site and I will be back with more questions as i plug along.

Welcome to TFP!

Maybe breakdown your questions into paragraphs? Be easier for the experts to give you answers. :)
Pump should be fine
I haven't installed wall skimmer in mine, thought about it though. Works ok without, just a little more hand skimming. We require the grandkids to skim when they first get in, one of their chores to earn the pool. heh
I think you are on the right track to pull it off.

thanks so much for the suggestions. i will do that. i had just thought i remembered reading on here that someone said that the wall skimmer was needed for the auto pool cleaners. thats what i do with these kids. we seem to get alot of little bugs while we swim and they have to keep them out. i thank you so much, all of you for your help. this is the only place i turn to.

I am far from an expert but it looks like that SWCG will need to run for 4-6 hours a day based on the pool size. Here is a link to the manual if you need it.

I just swapped my Summer Waves Skimmer for a Hayward skimmer and it was one of the best upgrades I made. I think it was like 30 on Amazon. If you go that route do your self a favor and assemble the inside and outside out of the pool first. The screws cut their way thru the holes, so trying to do it leaning over the edge is not the easiest. Other than that just make sure you have water up within a few inches of the bottom of the skimmer, so the liner is stretched. Then just use the gasket as a template to mark where you want the hole, and use a sharp razor blade slowly.

which hayward wall skimmer did you use and are there connection issues? like needing adapters or such? also, i have a suction type wall climber and floor vaccumn that works off the pump. will this type work with the sand pump im getting and the hayward skimmer, or do i need a robot? thank you so much for the help.
