Intex 24 x 12 x 52 pool leg support blocks

I'm setting up an Intex 24 x 12 x 52 pool. I need some advice on proper placement of support blocks for legs. I'm using 12 x 12 x 2 blocks. The pool is sitting on a 2 inch layer of leveled sand. I think the blocks are too high. Do I need to dig the blocks down so they are level with the ground?
