intellivalve flow direction?

just wanted to check to see if this diagram is correct. i was under the impression that you couldn't flow straight across a 3-way valve and isolate the inlet port. pentair shows this being done in this diagram for their heaters. is this correct? can you flow across the valve this way and isolate the port that i have hi-lighted yellow?

i'm questioning this because i read through the intellivalve manual and i dont see how the LED light on the controller would show that "inlet" port closed.

can the controller be mounted 90 degs to make any of the other ports the inlet? it looks to be able to only mount in one orientation since the screw holes appear to be offset.

edit... maybe it works that way. i guess i need to try it and not post a bunch of questions on here. lol

Works fine. Just position the IntelliValve so both ports are within the LED range.

You can mount the actuator in any orientation need to align with the ports.
