I’m retrofitting a pool system with 3 bodies of water, two pumps, five 2-Way valves.
feature rich to say the least.

using : IntelliTouch i7+3 including 3 valve module #520285
I'm learning on workbench prior to actual install at clients home , and I'm glad i did.

10 circuits > “pool” , “spa” , “waterfall” , “stream”, “cool down”,AUX1, AUX2 ,AUX3 ,AUX4 ,AUX5

If I want positive control of each valve it appears I need 5 AUX(valve assigned) features.

then when setting up a macro I have ability to turn each on/off as needed.

When setting up macros there are only 8 button choices, are the other two vacant buttons the “baked in” Pool & Spa features?

I relate to the valves as ABCDE
A [ filter pump suction] B [filter pump return]
filter pump is energized with AUX1 relay.

When assigning a valve to an AUX output is the physical relay necessary ?
Can the assigned relay be utilized for other load or is it married to valve always working simultaneously ?

I perceive a conflict in the relationship between “Pool” and “Spa” (main page buttons) (baked in "Circuit" )
and valve assignments with other features.

example;
POOL button > turns on AUX1 (filter pump) with no valve action . this is a “baked in” function without otherwise required valve assignment.
SPA button > spa is jetting = AUX1 ON (pump) , valve A ON valve B ON this is a “baked in” function without otherwise required valve assignment.

transition to macro

Waterfall circuit AUX1 ON (pump) , AUX2 ON (pump) , AUX3 ON (valve assigned) > then valve A OFF ( filter pump suction)

how do macros fit in relation to “baked in” functionality
what am I missing other than expanding to a i10 or other expansion module ?

Tom,

I see that you have not received an answer to your question yet... :(

I am not sure about the IntelliTouch, but know for sure that the EasyTouch's A and B valves can only be used for the Intake Actuator and the Return Actuator..

My gut says you can't use them for anything else on the IntelliTouch either..

Let's see if one of our other members might have a better answer..

Thanks,

Jim R.

You would not normally have the Pool or Spa connected in any way to an Aux circuit... Pool and Spa are their own circuits...

I would also use Feature circuits instead of Aux circuits when you don't need a physical relay to turn something on/off.
