Intelliflo 2 VST Problems

Hello,

I have a Pentair Intelliflo 2 vst that is around 7 years old. I bought the house about two years ago and since I've owned it the pump has always been noisy but ran great. Yesterday the pump shut itself off and after an hour I could turn it back one. It ran again for 10-15 minutes and shut itself off. I’m guessing there is some thermal protection built into the motor and maybe it’s overheating or possibly the thermal switch is bad? I am somewhat lost.

I checked voltage to the motor and it’s getting 244VAC. I checked amps at the breaker and both legs were drawing around 10 amps which I believe is normal, please correct me if not. I assumed if there was something wrong with the motor it would be drawing more current than normal. The display screen has never worked so if there is a code, I don’t believe that I can retrieve it.

Does anyone have any idea of what I should check next? Or the troubleshooting process I should go through?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to TFP.

Yeah, sounds like your motor is failing.

Not much you can troubleshoot. Especially with your display out.

May be time for a new pump.

Okay, that’s what I was thinking as well I have a spare pump already. The previous homeowners seemed to keep a back up salt cell and pump.

The pump I have installed now uses terminal adapters at the inlet and outlet. Is there a reason they chose that method over unions?

I have no idea what terminal adapters are.

Pictures?
