Week 2 of the new pool, working to set up circuits and schedules etc. This screen underwhelms me.

With my two pump set up, I thought it could be programmed to have the pool pump run the pool and have the spa jet pump run the spa. I can't seem to find a way to do that. All it seems to do is run either the pool or the spa. Regardless of which one I turn on, the other turns off. I can't seem to have the pool and spa on at the same time via this screen. I am able to do it via Features or Pumps. Is this as designed/expected?

That is as expected.

Running the Spa Jet Pump is not running the Spa.

Running the Spa to the IntelliCenter means filtering the water and heating. Neither of which is done by your spa jet pump.

So you can filter and heat the pool in POOL mode.

Or you can filter and heat the spa in SPA mode,

Both modes use the same filter/pump.

That is what that screen controls.

Thanks Jim & Allen. I think the UI was adding to my frustration. There is a toggle for each, but the reality is it's a toggle between them.

So in my case I could be in pool mode using my heat pump (and filter) and then have a circuit group as a feature to turn on the spa jets with heat (using the heater).

Post pics of your equipment pad.

I don't think your spa jet pump can flow through your heater to heat the spa.

You have both a HP and a gas heater?

Yes. I have a HP and gas heater, and I have two pumps - one for pool and one for spa. Pool goes through the filter, spa does not. When I turn on SPA mode, the spa pump comes on, which is why I was confused as to why I couldn't use the pools screen to have them both on. The spa pump can go through the heater or bypass it and returns through the jets. Equipment Front.jpg

You have a few manual valves that can change your flow and some actuator valves. So it is hard to tell what will happen when you select a pump or heater. It is up to you to keep track of the way things are set in your system. It is not simple.

W,

The system will control the valve positions and main pump when switching between the Pool and Spa mode. You should be able to turn on your jet pump any time you want. From the jet pump's point of view, I doubt it cares if you are in the Pool mode or Spa mode.

Thanks,

Jim R.
