I feel like this is a really stupid question, but I would like to set up my IC so that when it calls for heat, the pump automatically goes to 3,000RPM. I can’t seem to figure out how to do it. I swear this interface would make a punch card programmer blush. Any help would be awesome. Thanks!!

I followed this thread to set mine up on the Easytouch. It should be similar in the Intellicenter.

In Screenlogic, It is a Function called Pool Heater Active.

Well....I can’t seem to find that anywhere in the IC menu. I can’t believe it wouldn’t be possible to throttle the pump back when heat is not called for.

Wes,
@Zaffor figured out how to not only change a speed when heat is called for but to also move his heater bypass valve to the correct position when heat is called for.
However, he is using an UlraTemp and NOT a Mastertemp but it might just work the same. Worth a try I guess.
In the pumps setup page, click on the circuit pull-down and try selecting either Pool Heater or Heater. This might be the IntelliCenter equivalent of what @mknauss was suggesting. Then create a speed that you want the pump to run at when heat is called for.

This might take some trial and error but I think that it may get you on the right track.
Thanks...

p.s. You might want to hurry while the servers are up at the moment. :laughblue:

Eureka! It worked!! Just selected “Heater” and it works like a charm. Every time heat is called for , the valve turns, the pump ramps up, and the heater fires. When it’s up to temp, it reverses the cycle.

Now - Any idea what I could do to build in a delay on the bypass actuator to let the heater cool for a few minutes? The manual claims it is not needed for the mastertemp, but it still seems like it couldn’t hurt. Will the NodeJS-PoolController do it by chance?

Try this. Per @Zaffor

In heater settings i set a 90second delay for heater to turn on so the valves all turn but the heat pump wont turn on until after 90seconds so it doesn’t actually run the heater during my 1min program.

Awesome. I’ll try that when I get home and report back.

Thats for delay before turning on. I think I saw a delay for turning off in intellicenter general settings somewhere in the manual when I read through it. Could also look through heater settings if yours has some (not sure as I use Ultratemp)

Ok, so I've also been trying to figure this out for some time. Can't believe it is that simple. However, the one thing I cannot figure out, is how to associate freeze protection with the heater valve, so that it opens when you get into freezing temps. Maybe I'm missing something but I'm going to have to revert to my previous programming if I can't figure the freeze protection out.

Does the heater turn on when you get into freezing temps? My valve opens anytime my heater kicks on automatically.

No, the heater isn't for freeze protection. Just need it to open so that water will flow through the heat exchanger so it doesn't freeze up.

Yes, the valve opens any time the heater kicks on. I like that aspect of it.
