Intellibrite 5G Light and Controller Problem

I am having problems with my light. The pulses to the transformer are not correct. I've had this happen a few times in the past and let it run a while and worked the switch.

The controller is the intellibrite dial type box that pulses the transformer.

But tonight it was worse when I tried it.

It never gets used much. I don't know if the switch is suspect or the transformer. I know the number of pules is not correct and kind of stumbles at times.

Where to look to solve this problem?

I did figure out part of my problem. After letting the light run for an hour, it worked perfect. Maybe my transformer is getting a bit old and not responsive enough or quick enough when cold.
