Instant Blue Green Suspension/Sludge during Winterizing

If closing without polyquat 60 you want slam level fc.
If using polyquat 60 the fc at 20% of cya or thereabouts is fine, which is right where you are.
With a cya of 40 your fc should never be less than 3ppm.
FC/CYA Levels

May want to lower the ph just a touch.

Ok, I will research polyquat 60 (aka algaecide 60 from what I can find). I currently do not use/have that chemical. If I do not use it, I want my pool to stay at slam level FC? I have a FC of 9, but I should raise it to 10 if I DO NOT use polyquat. If I DO use polyquat 60, then I hit slam level, then let the FC fall to 20% of CYA before adding polyquat 60.

I bought muriatic acid. I will use pool math to calculate a small pH reduction. Thanks!

If not using polyquat raise to slam level fc which is 16ppm for your cya of 40.
Many people- myself included- don’t use polyquat & just close at slam level.
