Installing sun sail post in concrete

I will probably try to add in some sort of quick release for that reason. I will update on here once my project is finished.
Albuquerque, NM has a frost depth of 20", most contractors will go a little deeper than that just to be safe. Your sail shade column footing should be isolated from your concrete patio or deck or whatever the surrounding surface is. The footing should be at least 2" larger on all sides of the column base. Find a local structural engineer to help you with the exact size of the footing and method of anchoring the column, better safe than sorry.

I was thinking poles with a hand crank and pulley on one side and a pulley/weight system on the other so sails can be moved back and forth horizontally as needed. The weights could provide some give if the wind went full hulk-smash on it. Also height adjustment in some manner (sailboat rigging?). With substantial footings of course.
