Install SWCG during SLAM or wait?

Hello everyone.

I'm toward the end of a SLAM at the point where the water tests good, low FC loss overnight, but is still quite cloudy. We've had rain on and off the past few weeks so that sets me back a bit each time. I figure I have another 1-2 weeks of 24/7 filtration to get rid of the cloudiness.

I have a new SWCG I would like to plumb in ASAP so I don't have to venture out to get more liquid chlorine again, at least not right away. The problem is that the heavy body PVC cement says to allow 24-48 hours for the joints to cure. How far back will that set me in the SLAM process? (I can keep adding liquid chlorine of course even though the pump would be off during that time.) I feel like everything's dead, I'm just waiting to filter it all out, so it shouldn't be too much of a setback. What say you all?

Ooof. I wouldn’t. And I couldn’t live without my SWG. If you take a break now you could lose serious ground in the fight. Keep your foot on the algae’s throat until it dies and is gone. After that a 2 day break with manual mixing LC won’t matter.

That table is from Oatey. I can't imagine that you have to wait 48 hours with that glue on a 2" pipe at above 50F. This is rated 180 PSI at two hours for 2" pipe

In fact it looks like the weld on glues cure even faster but they rate until the joint can withstand 160 PSI... 30 minutes for 2" pipe. Both of these tables assume primer is used...

Wait a couple of hours, and you will be fine. You are supposed to use primer on pressure joints unless your glue specifically says that you don't have to...
