I'm not set on 12 jets, but it just seems like a good amount. I see lots of builds in the 6-8 jets, and then I see builds with 12, 18 or more.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of info on spa design in general. I've seen where people say choose how many jets you want, then size the rest of the items around that. Well, how do you choose how many jets make for a good spa experience? Of course I don't want to go with not enough, but I don't want to over do it either if there is no benefit after so many. Does anyone have any thoughts?

A lot of builds have 6-8 jets because that is about the limit you can do with a single residential pool pump and still have strong jets. However, the forum has many many posts on poorly performing spas. Most builder it seems, really don't have much of a clue on how to properly build a spa plumbing system. I have a few guidelines on spa building in the Hydraulics 101 sticky in my signature.


But choosing the number of jets is all about preference and what you are trying to achieve.
