Increasing TA

Can baking sodas be substituted for washing ash? Also can soda be mixed and matched with borax. I am using the t. F.p. Calculator

Baking soda should be used to increase alkalinity in pool water. What is your TA and pH?
I suggest you read ABC's of Pool Water Chemistry.

My TA is 20. I just added 3 pounds of baking soada. Will retest tomorrow. My pH is sub 6.8. My test kit does go lower than that.

Once you get TA to 60 or 70 ppm, then if pH is not above 7, use borax to raise it.

I use tricolor on a limited basis like. But liquid bleach most of the time.

Interesting. Then how did you crash your TA and pH?

What is your CYA level?
