Increasing TA

According to PoolMath, I need about 9lbs of baking soda to increase my 27k pool TA by 20 points. Does that sound right?

Where can I get baking soda in that amount? A big box store?

Any specific method to adding it? Or the standard: dump it into the deep end of the pool?

I get 8 lbs.

Anyway...any big box store should sell baking soda in 12 Lb bags or 4 lb boxes, or even the 1 lb kitchen-sized boxes.

Yes, just scatter it in the deep end.

What is your TA now? Are you sure you actually need to raise it?

It's only a bit on the low side. I test it at 50, while my prescribed range is 70-90.

No need to raise it if your pH is steady. The one parameter you do not chase is TA. If the pH is happy, all is good.
