In the Olden Days...

I'm not sure, but we are going to figure something out.

I like your tile better than mine, but then I don't like either one of them. My plaster is a mess. Looking at going terrazzo this time around, I think it'll fit the 50's era look.

I'm not a fan of BLUE tile.

Robbie have you had anyone out for estimates at all, and or found anyone who does Terrazzo in pools? I can tell you this but repeating myself, those guys who put that in were good man. You know that coping was cut and fitted on site by experienced hands. Very nice work.

Alan, I don't think your pool is ugly if that is worth anything to you.

Thanks, BPPatrickB,
I just think my tile is ugly. (Although you can easily see the water depth as it changes on those tiles!)
And the painted pool surface is degraded and needs resurfacing. So it will require some attention eventually.

I've had some estimates, but it was for plain plaster and PebbleTec, and some of the smooth versions of that Pebble surface. I have not gotten a bid for the terrazzo yet, but one builder said he believes it will be along the same lines as the pebble surfaces. Bids included chipping out my returns and installing the new, standard returns with fittings (mine are copper with no threads), and installation of a new pool light.

EDIT: I forgot how much the bids were. But plaster was about 1/2 the cost of anything else.

I cringe at what the pebble types will be, but cant seem to get a straight answer. The polished finishes are very appealing, but I fear...very spendy. I've been devouring info on finishes latetly and it sounds like the upgraded plasters of today are much advanced. I wish you luck, and do keep us posted when you re do it.
