In-line chlorine dispenser question

Hello, I’ve attached some photos of my setup where I have a Zodiac Pro G Plus dispenser downstream of the pump which I suspect is no longer feeding chlorine. Note there is a separate dead-end pipe that formally went to a robot vac, but it is no longer used.

On one side of the dispenser is space for a Nature2 mineral cartridge which I took out probably 10 years ago. On the other side I put tablets. I’m not a heavy user of the trichlor tablets, but they are useful for vacations and raising CYA.

I suspect that it’s no longer dispensing because although the tablets are submerged in water, they are not dissolving at a normal rate and CYA levels are static. To confirm, I dumped a mini-bottle of red food coloring in the vessel, restarted the pump, and did not see anything come out of the return. There are different settings on the dispenser and even wide open, it does not appear to be doing anything.

There doesn’t seem to be much to it mechanically so wondering how to fix, or at least confirm for sure it's doing its job?

That unit is ancient. If your food color test didn't work then the unit isn't open at all to water flow within the chlorine compartment. Best thing is just stop using it. If you have the skills, cut it out and put a straight pipe or a saltwater chlorine generator.
