In ground pool caulking

I think something similar was used between the pool coping and the deck and it is rather deteriorated. Do I try to use something similar or the round backer rod will do?

I would use backer rod, or foam, or sand. Then use this.

Thank you! So I used that one a while back and I think it lasted couple of years, and it was nightmare to remove. Then I used BASF Master seal NP1, which seemed to have lasted about 6-7 years….and it was not so terrible to remove. Is there any advantage to the Sikaflex 1A?

No, lots of products work. If the BASF worked for you use it. Just my preference.

The flat foam is fine during construction to put on one side. Round backer rod works better when stuffed into an existing joint.
