Ignored pool

Dad got sent to hospital and left his pool too long before I could come up North to check it and a white cloud seems to come right through the cartridge filters. Was all green and corrected the chemistry but the remaining particles are smaller that the filter. It is Gunite 20000gal with 150 sq ft cartridge and 1.5 hp 2 pole (3450 rpm) pump. If I trusted the clarifiers to coagulate the particulates would they sink to the bottom to vac to daylight? 450$ per truck is not an option right now Any suggestions?

Dead algae is not smaller than a cartridge filter can collect unless something is broken in it. The problem is likely that not all the algae has been eradicated and there's still plenty of it reproducing faster than it can be killed and filtered out.
