We are going to drain and replace water this weekend to lower the CYA in our pool. Right now, I would call the CYA level 70. Ideally, how much CYA should be in the pool. Thanks!
50 would be good, 60 is still manageable. 70 is too, for that matter, but a little more work. If you had a filter that required backwashing, I'd have advised you to leave it alone and let backwashing drop it
Some of us in hotter climates actually run our CYA at 60 or 70 because we have a lot of daily FC loss due to our blazing sun. I'm actually about to pump up to 60 and may even do 70 to help reduce daily FC loss, so I think you can skip drain and just use current level. It will go down slowly over time
So much to learn about all of this! Good information to know - we definitely have our share of blazing sun here...not quite like Phoenix, but highs in the 95-102 range daily in the summer. I'm sure my husband will be thrilled to not have to pump water out of the pool. I bet with our kids and their friends swimming constantly, splash out will help alleviate over time, too.
