iChlor30 Power On During Day?

Hello, new guy Mike here from AZ - appreciate any advice here.

After cleaning my iChlor30 blades with Muriatic Acid a year ago and reinstalling, the lights on the device began to remain on during the day. Before, they remained off. Then six months later it began leaking under the temp-flow housing. I read that if lights remain on during the day, it creates a chlorine gas build up and permanent malfunction.

This week, I bought a new iChlor 30 and installed it. But, I have the same problem - the lights remain on during day.

I researched if the original Pentair iChlor power source may be the problem, but that remains inconclusive.

I read there are no special install instructions, I unscrewed the old one and screwed in the new one easily; it powered up and works fine.

Strange the lights remain on like the previous one's malfunction.

Anyone else experience this and any insights?

Hello, also to note, the timer remains ticking and is set as shown in the 'ON' position.

Should this be in the 'Manual' position and turns on based on the settings?

That would solve the problem, but unsure.. maybe a pool cleaner tipped it in the wrong position.. researching now.

Welcome to the forum.
I assume your iChlor is on when the pump is not running. You say during the day, but if the pump is running, there is no issue.

If the timer you show is managing the iChlor, then it should be in timer mode for the timer to work. The picture appears that is true.

Yes, iChlor lights remain on when pump is off during the day, it runs at night.

The timer is managing the iChlor - and I'm troubleshooting for the first time.

The 'On' position is shown in the photo, which keep the iChlor lights on - even with no water flow and the pump off.

I found it set this way, but thinking it's a mistake and should be in the 'Manual' position if that would allow the power to come on only during the set time window when the pool pump would run overnight. That would keep the power off to the unit during the day and make sense if that's the objective for the timer. I'll keep it manual now and wait if it turns on the iChlor at set times which are aligned to the pool pump.

That's the same timer I use on my SWG. It appears you have the time off by 12 hours. It's showing clock time of about 8 pm with a turn on time of 10:30 pm but there is daylight so the timer is set backwards. Leave the red lever in timer mode, pull the dial out and turn it to the correct clock time and let 'er rip. I run mine from 9pm to 9am for Time of Use savings. Flipping the red lever to manual is only to turn the timer on when it's not tripped on. Remember that the cell must not turn on until AFTER the pump turns on and it should turn off BEFORE the pump turns off.

Don't set to manual. Make sure the dial is set correctly to the current time. Move the on and off pins to times that are within the time that the pump is running.

Thanks very much for the replies and coaching. I set the current time and next time I check it's in the same position - is the dial supposed to turn and be in a different position as time goes by?

If the dial isn't turning then the timer is dead and you have to replace it. I found mine at Ace but Homer might have it. Be sure you know what voltage it is running on as they make it in 120v or 240v versions as the timer motor must be correct for your input voltage.
