So I'm wondering if any IC-40 owners might be or have experienced what I am?
I'm going into year 5 with it.

When I first turn my SWG, the Red/Green lights for good and low salt levels flash back and forth for what seems an inordinate amount of time before it goes steady green. These days, its taking a few minutes to go steady green.

As far as I can remember, this started maybe mid last year.
Previous years, it would go green in well under 30 seconds.

I can't think of any reason for the delay except for dirty cell or "almost low" salt, or the salt sensor maybe staring to go dark on me.

i inspected the cell and its nice and clean.
Salt level is 3300 per my K-1766 kit.

So I'm wondering if this might be an early warning sign?

What are you guys experience with the IC 40 sensing the salt level in a given amount of time from turning it on?

Dave,

I have three IC40's and they all take about 3 to 5 minutes to run their calibration cycle... Although, when I'm standing there waiting, it sure seems like much longer.:p

Thanks,

Jim R.

Thanks for the reply Jim.
You probably just saved me from buying a backup, for just in case. Your consultant fee is in the mail !! :)

Its interesting that this seems normal for yours, but mine always used to calibrate up very quickly. hummmmm

I, too, am going into year 5 on my IC-40. Mine also takes about 3-4 minutes to finish the start-up cycle. As I recall it has always taken a bit longer than I thought it should but I never timed it until now! Hope mine isn't dying this season!

It does take a few minutes. The testing doesn't actually start until the flow goes green.

If you're not getting a green flow light right away, that will delay the test.

Possibly pump taking longer to prime or air in the filter.
