I think I might have some algae

Chlorine
Liquid Chlorine
CYA is 30
FC is 6
pH is 7.5
ALK is 80

I tend to keep my chlorine on the high side to prevent my pool from getting algae. I solve each morning for FC of 6 and let it drift down to around 4 each day. I was surprised when I saw what looked like algae in my pool yesterday. I brushed it away and today my FC was at 3.5. Is it possible that my chlorine killed the algae, or maybe it was something else?

Thank you for any advice.

I have to go to work right now but will answer any questions later today.

Your test numbers above looked quite good, but if you saw algae, something odd must have happened. Perhaps circulation wasn't good in an area or two, or something else caused stress on the water resulting in excess chlorine demands. Whatever the reason, if it was indeed algae that you saw, a SLAM Process is usually next. If you have any reservations about starting a SLAM Process and that stuff you saw has not returned, then consider doing an Overnight Chlorine Loss Test to ensure your FC is holding as it should.

If u are unsure of what u saw do an Overnight Chlorine Loss Test - that will rule out organics.
Maintaining the high target fc level for your cya or a little above is definitely good insurance & what is recommended.
But It is possible that your fc level in a certain area of the pool still dipped too low at some point with these high uv/ hot days.
*If u pass the OCLT you may want to raise cya to 40 or to help mitigate some of the daily fc loss from the sun - chlorinate accordingly FC/CYA Levels
* if u fail the OCLT—-> SLAM Process

Thank you for your response. I will try the OCLT tonight. It if doesn't work, should I do a regular SLAM or the
