I think I have yellow algae.

So not to cause more issues... My alkalinity is 100 which is target, but PH is really high. If I use the acid, will it not bring down the alkalinity too low then? Is maybe the higher chlorine level causing PH to look high? Should I test again prior to putting in the muriatic acid? Again - here are my numbers:

3,000 ppm salt
FC = 4
CC = 0
TC = 4
Calcium = 75 ppm
Total Alkalinity = 100
CYA - black dot never went away.

Is this the correct kind of muriatic acid to buy? How to put it in the water?

Muriatic acid is available in various strengths. The most common strength is called either 20° baume or 31.45%. 10° baume or 15.725% is easier to handle but you need twice as much and it is usually more expensive.

Muriatic acid should be added to the pool by pouring slowly in front of a return jet with the pump running. You should pour slowly enough that pouring an entire jug takes more than two minutes. Leave the pump running for at least 30 minutes after adding muriatic acid.

Thank you. Will be getting some today to lower the PH and then maybe adding the stabilizer to increase CYA currently at 0. I will retest first to make sure I did the test correctly. Then will plan on doing Slam.

The tube on pink side of the test is thicker at the bottom (it’s at an angle) allowing in less pool water than the yellow side. Is it supposed to be that way? Pool store test was PH of 7.5 and this test is so difficult to read. Getting very frustrated. Look at the third pic at how much skinnier the pink is at the bottom compared to the yellow. What is my ph reading according to this?IMG_2002.jpegIMG_2003.jpegIMG_1998.jpeg
