I knew I had iron...but copper too??

I took a sample of our well water in for analysis as it is what we are using to fill the pool. Of course I only took it there for the metals, everything else I disregarded.? Turns out I have both iron (.3) AND copper (also .3).

Is this crazy high for either/both? We are using well water because of no other choice. There is some minor staining so far, but nothing that I think we can't lift. We are about 75% full. We are currently filtering with 2 pumps into a 55 gal drum stuffed with poly and washing it out once a day...and it is GROSS the stuff we are pulling out. (Our equipment pad is *almost* ready to fire up).

Should have seen the list of stuff they wanted to sell me. ???

Honestly, while I know others on the site recommend pool store metal testing, I do not. Pool store metal testing is as reliable as all their other testing, so why would I recommend unreliable testing for anything? Heck, someone just today said that after some digging he found out the pool store he went to (with the cool digital wiz bang tester) had been making up the metals tests because the tester is broken!

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Work on getting the iron out, which it sounds like you are doing well, and tackle any other issues as they arise.

Yah, I agree re: unreliable results. I will take those results with a big grain of salt and assume that it's a ballpark number at best. We must be doing a good job of straining the oxidized stuff out as we are not having any staining issues the more we filter.??

While that's not crazy high numbers, it right at the verge of staining, so you'll need to be vigilant about it. I'm not sure how much rain you get, but if you're allowed to, I would try and collect and utilize every bit I could in the pool to offset some of the well water. We have a few members that collect gutter runoff and divert that to their pools.
