Not sure if I'm looking at 7.8 or higher on this. Unfortunately the phones always give their own tint to it making it rough to take an accurate picture.

If you used 5 drops of reagent for this test, try using only 4 drops next time to see if it's easier for you to determine the reading. Everyone's eyes are a bit different. Using one less drop on the pH test makes it easier to read for some.

Be sure to use a well lit white background when determining the color match.

I'm with Pat. Looks to be 7.5 - 7.6 to me.

A consistent background is key. To get good backlighting, hold the block in front of your computer monitor/tablet/phone with a blank white screen displayed. Also, try holding the block sideways or upside down. Sometimes that helps distinguish colors better. I also use two old hotel keycards to mask off areas and narrow down my decision.
