Hydrostatic Plug Sealing

What is the best method to seal the hydrostatic cap so that it is not leaking?

1. Teflon tape - (Risk cracking the main drain fitting by over tightening)
2. Nothing - Just use the cap
3. Pipe Dope - This will be submerged
4. Silicone Adhesive

Are you asking about sealing a solid hydrostatic plug or a hydrostatic relief valve?

Where is this located in your pool?

Why do you think it needs to be sealed?

hello,
It is located in my main drain.
It is a PVC Cap that as to be removed if you drain the pool (Hayward SPX1051Z1):

My pool was 8' deep and was modified to be 5' deep now. There is now an interstitial space (filled with rock) between the original gunite floor and the new gunite floor.
I'm hoping to go the next 15-20 years without having to drain this pool again. I would hate for there to be a slow leak to this interstitial space. Just looking to make the pool hold water as best as possible.

I would leave it as is if there is no sign of leakage.

Wrap the threads in Teflon tape or plumbers dope and thread them in.

It won't make much difference if water gets into the space in between as long as there is water in the pool. Draining is another story so hopefully whoever did the work punched a bunch of holes in the previous shell.
